Juma

Juma is a modern and high-quality material for the production of knife parts such as handles or components and art objects.

Since I discovered this material I can not do without it, in my laboratory it is always present in different colors.

It is a material that in terms of cost is placed in an intermediate area but certainly has an aesthetic effect on the handle of the knife that embellishes the blade, giving it an effect that you do not find with other materials.

It is produced by the German company Elforyn and is a collection of various minerals embedded in the resin.

This company has a “simple” motto related to the protection of some animal species often used to obtain materials used in different areas.

PROTECTING THE SPECIES CAN BE SO SIMPLE!

Elforyn Super Tusk uses a copy that is perfectly ivory-like, with exceptional properties and incredible optics, and our pachydermes take no risks!

Juma ® elforyn

With the creation of Elforyn Super Tusk, the most valuable and newest substitute for ivory, in addition to obtaining excellent technical and mechanical properties, it aimed to enhance an extraordinary and first-rate resemblance to real ivory.

Alongside the typical ivory grain and the annual rings on the longitudinal side, on the front are the “Schreger lines”, characteristic of ivory.

These structures are visible even in smaller applications and give a particular look.

Juma

Art versus protection of animals so that any substitute you want to use, in the end what matters is the protection of the species!

Processing tips

The Juma material is sensitive to heat during grinding, keep Juma cool when you work it to avoid deformations or chipping.

This is an attention that is common to all Juma products but in general to resins.

The manufacturer also recommends products for the final finishing/polishing using polishing wheels and abrasive paste starting with the Mirka Polarshine C35 Juma coltellimania.com

Mirka Polarshine 35 “

Polarshine® 35 is a coarse polishing compound developed for demanding industrial and marine applications.

Suitable for materials such as gel coats, high gloss lacquers and composites.

Polarshine® 35 is a fast and efficient compound that produces a high surface shine and thus minimizes sanding phases.

This polishing compound has special emulsifier properties, which reduce the risk of dryness or overheating of the surface.

The viscosity of polarshine® 35 reduces sketches and makes it easy to use.

A silicone-free coarse-grain polished compound to remove smoothing scratches from P1200 and finer, for oxidated surfaces and for removing washing marks.

And then as a final I recommend using the abrasive pasta Mirka Polarshine T10.

Use it when you want to give your products a great finishing touch.

Polarshine 10 is the latest mono compound system.

It is a medium-to-medium-heavy polishing compound specially designed to achieve the best result after sanding with unique Mirka products.

Polarshine 10 is suitable for all paint systems and for polishing transparent scratch-proof.

It is designed to keep surface temperature low during polishing and removes marks permanently.

The Polarshine 10 is also silicone-free and can be used for both tool-based and hand-crafted applications.

All Mirka Polarshine products are silicone-free.

If you then want to achieve an extra brilliantfinish, you still have to use Mirka Polarshine Liquid nano Wax.

Juma coltellimania.com

Polarshine wax is a liquid wax designed to quickly and easily seal shiny surfaces.

It’s a great product and d is yummy if you want to give your handle a final touch.

It provides the handle with a glossy finish and protects the surface but if you want a more opaque effect do not use this product.

Polarshine Lwax is excellent for easy sealing and gives shine and protection.

It is a product that you can use manually than with electro-mechanical equipment.

Important!! All Mirka Polarshine products are silicone-free.

Clearly they are all products that you can also use for other applications and are the products recommended by Elforyn for Juma products.

They are products that are also supplied in different formats and clearly also different prices.

Conclusions

If you want to give a different touch to your blades, replacing wood, horns or bones, micarta, etc. is a good alternative with a very particular aesthetic effect.

In addition, using these synthetic materials avoids using animal-derived materials.
